Sauble River Run, Elliott Best Original Artwork
Where the river runs high toward Lake Huron
Late spring on the Sauble River, and the water is still running with snowmelt: cold, bright and restless as it tumbles over ancient stone. Cedar and pine lean into the first warm light of the season. In this original Elliott Best work, thick, sculpted brushwork captures every rush and tumble of the rapids, so you can almost hear the river from across the room.

The Story Behind the River
The Sauble River winds through Ontario's Bruce Peninsula before meeting Lake Huron at Sauble Beach. Every spring it comes alive. Meltwater swells its banks, rainbow trout make their run up the falls, and the forest along the shore turns green almost overnight. This painting holds that moment, when the season turns and the whole landscape seems to wake at once.
- Bold impasto texture that gives the water movement and depth
- Sunlit cedar and pine set against cool blues, turquoise and white water
- Rocks rendered in warm golds, violets and moss greens
- A tall, vertical composition made for a hallway, bedroom or reading corner
