Gustav Klimt — Portrait of Hermine Gallia 1904 — Elliott Best Signature Series
Gustav Klimt painted Hermine Gallia in 1904, just before the great gold phase that would produce The Kiss and the portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer. She stands at the threshold of that transformation — the luminous, gold-flecked ground already present, the psychological intensity fully formed, but the figure still rendered with a restraint that makes the painting quietly extraordinary. Pale skin, copper curls, red lips: she turns toward the viewer with the calm assurance of a woman entirely comfortable being looked at.
This Elliott Best Signature Series remaster honours Klimt's original with the care it deserves — the luminosity preserved, the gold ground given its full weight, the sitter's expression as composed and unreadable as Klimt intended.
Gold Paint Application — Available by Commission
In the spirit of Klimt's own devotion to gold, this print is available with a hand-applied gold paint finish — adding a layer of physical lustre to the gold-flecked ground that no standard print can replicate. Each gold application is applied individually in the Elliott Best studio.
