Greetings from London — Big Ben from the Thames

There is a particular version of London that you only get from the river. I took this photograph while out on the Thames in 2024— the city opening up on either side, the skyline doing what London skylines do: mixing centuries without apology. Big Ben anchors the frame, as it always has, the clock tower rising above the Palace of Westminster with the kind of quiet authority that makes you understand why it became the symbol it is.

From the water, the scale of it lands differently. You're not rushing past on the Embankment or glimpsing it between buildings — you're out in the middle of the river, and London is just there, all of it, at once.
