This detailed floral design is known as "Compton." Originally created in 1895 for Compton Hall, this pattern is a definitive example of the Arts and Crafts style, showcasing a lush, all-over pattern of stylized flowers and leaves.
While the design is often associated with William Morris, it is now widely attributed to his chief designer, John Henry Dearle, who created it for Morris & Co.. "Compton" was one of the last designs produced by the firm that Morris saw before his death, and it beautifully encapsulates the movement's celebration of natural forms and handcrafted artistry.
