The Dream (Le Rêve) (1883) is a symbolic painting by French artist Pierre Puvis de Chavannes, depicting a slumbering man with three figures representing Love (holding roses), Glory (holding a laurel wreath), and Fortune (scattering coins) approaching him in a dreamscape. The composition features muted colors, simplified forms, and a dreamlike atmosphere, drawing from the large decorative works for which Puvis de Chavannes was known. The painting, which exemplified the artist's tendency to blend symbolism with Romanticism while also looking ahead to later fantastical works, is housed at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, France.
