The anatomist William Hunter dispatched George Stubbs to Goodwood to paint it, and the greatest animal painter of his age gave a Canadian yearling the same anatomical precision and quiet respect he gave to champion racehorses. Because the animal was too young to carry antlers, Stubbs set a full-grown pair in the foreground.
